Palestine has been trying to gain membership in the United Nations for centuries. Palestinian leaders called on major countries and world leaders. However, even after all these years,

The country has to be satisfied only with the status of a permanent observer in the United Nations.

Although most countries voted on the Palestinian appeal to the Security Council last month, it was not approved because of the US vote. The World Organization’s General Assembly is scheduled to vote on whether the Security Council should reconsider the Palestinian request in such a situation. According to a Reuters report, the General Assembly will vote on Friday to recognize Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.

Most countries in the world will vote for Palestine in this election.

It will also ask the Security Council to reconsider the blocking of the Palestinian membership application by the US veto last month. The Security Council vote took place last month. Twelve countries from the 15-member Security Council voted for the resolution.

The West does not want to let Iran

The United Kingdom and Switzerland abstained.

However, Palestine is trying to revive its application for full membership. If the General Assembly adopts this resolution today, it will effectively recognize the State of Palestine. Only if at least two-thirds of the 193 members of the council vote can that country enter the United Nations. Even if Palestine cannot gain full membership in the United Nations, if Friday’s resolution is adopted, the country will receive some additional benefits from September this year.

For example,

seats in the General Assembly will be reserved for Palestine, like other member states. But they cannot vote on any proposal. The war in Gaza has been going on for more than seven months.
